Middle East Director announced by NATS

Global air traffic solutions company NATS has today announced the appointment of a Director for the Middle East.

NATS, which has its headquarters in the UK and provides consultancy and air traffic solutions throughout the world, has appointed John Swift to the role of Director NATS Middle East. John will be based in Abu Dhabi.

Airline and hub airport growth in the Middle East to meet capacity demands is a growth market for NATS and the appointment of a director for the region will further drive that strategy forward.

It will also enable NATS to further enhance its reputation for expertise in air traffic solutions in the region where it is already carrying out some significant projects, including the Qatar Airspace Design and Implementation for the New Doha International Airport, and has delivered an airspace optimisation project in Oman for the Director General of Meteorology and Air Navigation.

John will be responsible for developing NATS’ strategy in the Middle East, building key local relationships, and demonstrating NATS’ strong commitment to the region. He will also be responsible for developing the current and future Middle East activities into a significant sustainable business.

John said: “NATS already has a superb reputation for providing solutions to complex air traffic issues in the Middle East and beyond. This is a significant opportunity for us to build on that work and ensure our expertise is at the heart of the growth in air traffic throughout the region.”

A former air traffic controller, John had been Transport Solutions Director for NATS for the past two years, and Director International Business for two years prior to that. He also has extensive experience of working in the Middle East.
