Austrian Airlines Traffic Result: 4.9 percent more passengers in November

Austrian Airlines carried 843,100 passengers in November 2011. In spite of the crisis in the Middle East, Austrian Airlines has had a passenger increase of 4.9 percent in comparison to November last year. The average passenger load factor, at 69.8 percent, was 3.1 percentage points below the figure for the same month last year. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 9.5 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 4.9 percent. 
  
In the period from January to November 2011, the number of passengers carried rose by 2.9 percent compared to previous year’s figure: 10,465,100 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines. The load factor fell by 3.3 percentage points to 73.9 percent. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 5.9 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 1.3 percent. 
  
  
Europe 
In November 2011, around 701,000 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 5.8 percent more passengers than last year. The load factor fell by 3.6 percentage points to 67.6 percent. Austrian Airlines increased the ASK by 12.4 percent, the RPK rose by 6.7 percent. 
  
In the period from January to November 2011, around 8.3 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 5 percent more than last year. The load factor fell by 0.4 percentage points to 71.7 percent. The figure for ASK rose by 6.1 percent, and the one for RPK by 5.5 percent. 
  
  

Intercontinental   
In November 2011, the number of passengers carried on intercontinental flights grew slightly by 1.8 percent to 128,500. The load factor, which is 71.3 percent, was 2.5 percentage points below the figure of the previous year. Austrian Airlines increased its ASK by 7.8 percent. The figure for RPK rose by 4.2 percent. 
  
Austrian Airlines carried more than 1.5 million passengers in the period from January to November 2011, or 1.2 percent less than last year. The load factor fell by 5.7 percentage points to 75.3 percent. The crisis in Japan and the Middle East are having an effect here. Austrian Airlines increased its ASK by 8.7 percent. The figure for RPK rose by 1.1 percent. 

Charter 
As a result of the capacity restriction set by the EU, Austrian Airlines reduced its ASK in the charter business segment. 
  
In November 2011, passenger volume stood at 13,600, which is 9.4 percent less than the previous year. The load factor fell by 2.4 percentage points to 77.7 percent. Austrian Airlines reduced the ASK by 5.6 percent. The figure for RPK fell by 8.4 percent. 
  
In the period from January to November 2011, Austrian Airlines carried 634,600 passengers in the Charter segment. This figure is 11.2 percent lower than last year. The load factor fell by 4 percentage points to 76.8 percent. The figure for ASK fell by 13.3 percent, while the one for RPK fell by 17.6 percent.
