– FS2004 Bell X1

FS2004 Bell X1 v1.0. The X-1 aircraft was made using FSDS 3.0 and has a VC, animated suspension and controls, reflective textures, etc. The Bell X1 was rocket powered and carried about 5 minutes worth of fuel and was normally dropped from a mothership, usually a B-29 adapted for the purpose, although it was originally designed for conventional ground take-offs, a feat which Chuck Yeager succesfully completed on January 5th 1949. It was not possible to make it rocket powered in FS2004 (rockets are not supported in FS2004) so it is set up as a jet. The thrust settings are what they would have been from the rocket so this aircraft will achieve realistic speeds. By Julian Higgs.
