One of the world's most successful and useful light turbine helicopters, the Hughes/McDonnell Douglas/MD Helicopters 500 series began life as Hughes won the US Army observation helicopter contest with the YOH-6A Cayuse, which first flew in February 1963. The engineering and certification designation for all military and civil variants of this helicopter type is Hughes Model 369. It was offered in basic five and seven seat configurations.
In 1970 the 500C followed with a more powerful turboshaft. From 1976 deliveries were of the 500D, an improved version with again a more powerful engine, a T-tail, and new five blade main and optional four blade tail rotors. The 500D was followed by the 500E from 1982 with recontoured nose and various interior improvements including greater head and leg room. |

The team at VFR Extreeme is proud to release their first scenery, Boise X. When most people think of Boise the first thing that comes to their mind is usually, why Boise? Well, Boise, the capital of Idaho, is one of the most unique cities that seems to get neglected by the majority of the flight simulation community. Boise has a very diverse landscape that makes it "Extreeme" and a logical location for VFR flight. In the Northeast corner of the Boise area you will find beautiful mountainous terrain and the Boise river cutting through on its way to the pristine Lucky Peak Lake.

Lukla airport owes its existence to the fact it is located close to Mount Everest and that most climbers use it as the first station in the attempt to scale this massive mountain.
During the climbing season, October/November, the small aircraft (mostly Twin Otters) have to be off the airport in 15 minutes because there are only 4 parking spaces and there are probably other Twin Otters circling to land. It can really be a very, very busy airport. It is also the highest airport with scheduled airline flights in the word. Combine this with the fact the airport is of course closed a lot due to weather and you will understand why it can be as busy as it is. |

Dag and Vin, painters who helped us a lot with liveries for the released F-16 Fighting Falcon, have just done a new texture update for this great little fighter. The new textures for the canopy are perhaps the highlight of the package but we also like the new afterburner textures. The file is well documented but because there are many options there is no complete installer. HIGHLY recommended and do let Dag and Vin know when you like the work they done.
