Virgin Australia to launch service to Bali

Virgin Australia is introducing a route from Darwin International Airport to Bali, Indonesia, boosting international links to the northern Australian gateway.

The carrier is launching a 3X-weekly seasonal flight between Darwin and Bali, using a Boeing 737-800. The flight will operate from April to October 2019.

LCC Jetstar already operates on this route.

“Following the reduction in services on the Darwin to Denpasar [Bali] route earlier this year, we have been in ongoing talks with as many as four carriers over the past months,” NT Airports CEO Ian Kew said.

The start of the Virgin flights will mark the first time in more than a decade that Darwin will have an Australian full-service airline flying to Bali, the airport said. Virgin’s growing presence in Darwin means travelers from other Australian cities without direct service to Bali can connect through Darwin.
