FSX/FS2004 – Arrow Active Mk II. Designed largely by A. C. Thornton of the Arrow Aircraft (Leeds) Company Ltd, who was an ex-employee of Blackburn Aircraft & Motor Co Ltd. The prototype, G-ABIX, was powered by a 115 HP Cirrus Hermes IIB inverted engine & constructed of steel & duralumin with fabric covering. It was first flown in 1931 receiving it’s C of A on 21 May 1931. Subsequently bought by Alex Henshaw in May 1935 he baled out of her when she caught fire on 30th December 1935. A second improved aircraft was constructed & awarded it’s C of A on 29 June 1932 & was powered by a 120 HP de Havilland Gipsy III. This was known as the Mk II & registered G-ABVE. No further examples were built. She was refurbished in 1958 for Norman Jones of the Tiger Club where she was fitted with a 145 HP Gipsy Major. She has now returned to being powered by a Gipsy III & now resides at the Real Aeroplane Company at Breighton, near Selby in Yorkshire.
