RARE: Cubana Ilyushin IL-96-300 Landing RWY 33L + Taxi @ Toronto Pearson Int’l July 27, 2015IN THIS VIDEO: Hello everyone! Welcome back to spotting! Today, July 27, 2015 was an awesome day to spot. This was the day that the Cubana Ilyushin IL-96-300 was scheduled in to pick up the Cuban athletes and return them to Cuba. Having missed the first landing on July 5, 2015, I wasn’t going to miss this one for sure.

The landing was scheduled at 7:30am EDT but got pushed to 8:53am EDT and then to 10:55am EDT as the aircraft was delayed, so we all woke up at 6am EDT for nothing lol. Anyways, we still got some good traffic at Pearson but then Tower changed RWY’s to 33L and 33R. With the aircraft only 35 min away, we had to act quick. There was only 1 guy with a car so 5 of us went with his car. Unfortunately, we had to leave 4 other spotters there with one going to Terminal 3. We drove into the Infield and caught the Ilyushin landing on RWY 33L just as he called in on Tower. Stopped on the side of the road and filmed it. I got awesome sound and view since it was unobstructed by the fence. After the bouncing touchdown, we headed with the rest of the spotters deep in to the Infield to catch him taxiing to gate Charlie 36. I was very happy to have caught this guy!
