A380, to wow crowds at MAKS airshow

aviation_newsThe A380, the most advanced, spacious and fuel-efficient passenger aircraft in service, will delight the Russian aviation industry being a star attraction at the international aviation and space salon MAKS for the second time. MAKS takes place from August 27th to September 1st 2013 in Zhukovsky, Moscow. One of Airbus’ two flight test A380’s, MSN4, will be on static and flying display during the entire show.

“The A380’s debut at MAKS-2011 was extremely successful, so we are very pleased to show this remarkable aircraft to the Russian audience again this year. The A380 is a product of international cooperation with a substantial endorsement from Russian industry. On the commercial front, Transaero Airlines signed a firm contract for four A380s, and we look forward to seeing the aircraft flying in the Russian carrier’s colours ,” highlighted Christopher Buckley, Airbus Executive Vice President, Europe, Asia and Pacific.

Powered by Engine Alliance GP7200 engines and equipped with sophisticated flight test instrumentation, MSN4 is used for testing the latest product developments.

Since the A380’s entry into service in 2007, the aircraft has joined the fleets of ten world class carriers. The aircraft is capable of flying up to 8,500 nautical miles or 15,700 kilometres non-stop, carrying more people at lower cost and with less impact on the environment. The spacious, quiet cabin and smooth ride have made the A380 a firm favourite with both airlines and passengers, resulting in higher load factors wherever it flies.

The total A380 fleet has accumulated nearly one million flight hours in over 110,000 flights. To date some 40 million passengers have already enjoyed the unique experience of flying on board an A380. Every five minutes, an A380 either takes off or lands at one of the 30 airports where it operates today and the network is constantly growing.
