Safran spotlights Innovation and Employment at the 2013 Paris Air Show

aviation_newsSafran’s presence at the 50th Paris Air Show, taking place this year at the traditional Le Bourget venue from June 17 to 23, will focus on two main themes: innovation and employment.

Safran is unveiling two highly innovative systems now under development, on its stand and on the tarmac:

The electric green taxiing system (egts), developed jointly by Safran and Honeywell, allows airplanes to taxi around airports without using their jet engines, thanks to electric motors located on the main landing gear (see the schedule for daily demonstrations).
Checkpoint of the Future, an “all in one” security solution for airports, combining state-of-the-art technologies for explosive detection and biometric identification of passengers (Safran stand 232, Hall 2A).
Visitors will be able to see a number of other exciting new products from Safran, including the Arrano (a new-generation turboshaft engine for helicopters in the 4 to 6 ton class), the LEAP engine (successor to the best-selling CFM56 commercial turbofan), and the Silvercrest (a latest-generation engine for business jets).

Experts from Safran companies will host daily conference in the Innovation Corner of the Group’s stand. They will be discussing:

The technologies now being developed by Safran that will enhance air travel in the future, both on the ground and in the air (from June 17 to June 21 at 9:30 and/or 11:00 am)
Hiring outlook at Safran (June 21 at 11:00 am).
Employment is Safran’s other main focus this year. In addition to the Group’s traditional presence in the jobs forum, Safran is also organizing a “job dating” operation on Friday and Saturday, June 21 and 22, 2013. Two hundred pre-selected candidates will be welcomed for an employment interview, with 100 jobs to be filled via this operation. Safran is also participating in the Careers Plane, an operation organized by French aerospace industry association Gifas to promote jobs in the aerospace industry. From software development engineer to sheet metal worker, 50 key professions will be represented.
